Create your first flag

  1. Open the dashboard, choose Create an account, then create your first project.
  2. Go to Project settings. Each environment (development, preview, production) has its own public ek_… SDK key. Copy the one for the environment your build will run as.
  3. Create a flag with a key, for example checkout-v2. Keep it disabled for now.

A flag the SDK does not know about evaluates to the fallback you pass (false by default), so it is safe to ship code that reads checkout-v2 before the flag is turned on.

What the dashboard controls

For every flag and environment: whether it is enabled, its default value, and an ordered list of rules. A rule is a set of conditions that must all match, an optional percentage, and the value it returns. See Targeting and Rollouts.

Every change that affects what a phone would evaluate bumps the environment’s revision. Phones compare revisions on their next sync and download the full snapshot when it moved. See Offline and last-known-good.
